India registered a 2-0 series victory over Ireland after the third match was washed out due to rain today, August 23, at the Malahide Cricket Club in Dublin. Here are the player ratings for the India players that featured in the series.

Only 11 India players got a game in the two matches, and the washout prevented them from trying out the others. Rinku Singh and Prasidh Krishna did well on their T20I debuts.

The main highlight of the series, however, was the return of Jasprit Bumrah, and he didn’t disappoint. Here is how each of the 11 players performed in the series.

Ruturaj Gaikwad – 8/10

77 runs @ 77, SR: 130.50, 1 fifty

Handed a leadership role in the senior India team for the first time, vice-captain Gaikwad did well with the bat on both occasions. He was unbeaten in the DLS-induced win in the first game and scored his second T20I fifty in the second to propel India to a decisive total.

Yashasvi Jaiswal – 6/10

42 runs @ 21, SR: 123.52

Jaiswal got two decent starts but failed to convert them into bigger scores. His two outings amounted to a 23-ball 24 and an 11-ball 18. While he would be disappointed that he didn’t make it big, the fact that he got consistent starts is a positive to take home.

Tilak Varma – 1/10

1 run @ 0.5, SR: 33.33

India’s highest scorer in the T20Is against the West Indies, Tilak’s fortunes reversed in here: he returned with only one run from two outings. Coming at No.3, he was unlucky to be caught trying to leg-glance first ball in the first match. In the second, he went for a big shot early on and was caught on the boundary.

Sanju Samson – 7/10

41 runs @ 41, SR: 151.85

Samson played an important knock of 40 from 26 balls in the second T20I, providing the required momentum to India’s innings. In the first match, he got to face just a solitary delivery before the heavens opened up.

Rinku Singh – 9/10

38 runs @ 38, SR: 180.95

Making his highly-anticipated T20I debut, Rinku won hearts the only time he batted. Coming in at No.5, Rinku took his time to settle before launching an all-out attack in the last two overs, hitting as many as three sixes in the process.

Shivam Dube – 7/10

22 runs @ INF, SR: 137.50
0 wickets @ INF, ER: 8

Making a comeback after nearly four years, Dube had decent outings with both bat and ball. After struggling initially in the second game, he hit two sixes at the death to get to 22 off 16 balls. The three overs he bowled in the series went for just 24 runs.

Washington Sundar – 6/10

0 wickets @ INF, ER: 7.60

Sundar didn’t have a huge role to play. He missed the only ball he faced, and bowled five wicketless overs across two games, conceding only 38.

Ravi Bishnoi – 8/10

4 wickets @ 15, ER: 7.50, BBI: 2-23

Bishnoi picked two wickets in both games but was slightly expensive in the second, where he conceded 37 in four overs. In the first, his four overs went for just 23, including the wickets of Paul Stirling and Mark Adair.

Jasprit Bumrah – 9/10

4 wickets @ 9.75, ER: 4.87, BBI: 2-15

The hype around Bumrah’s return was worth, it as India’s pace spearhead seemed to be at ease. He was at his near-unplayable best, going for less than five runs per over in the series and picking four wickets at less than ten runs apiece.

Prasidh Krishna – 8/10

4 wickets @ 15.25, ER: 7.62, BBI: 2-29

Returning from injury along with Bumrah was Prasidh, another fast bowler who is going to be vital to India’s World Cup plans. Like Bumrah, he seemed comfortable with his bowling, and hit the hard lengths often. While not as impressive as his senior, he was decent nonetheless, going at less than eight runs per over and picking two wickets each in each game.

Arshdeep Singh – 6/10

2 wickets @ 32, ER: 8, BBI: 1-29

Arshdeep had an indifferent series. He didn’t look particularly effective and wasn’t at his best with the new ball, his strongest suit, but he managed to limit the damage and went at just eight runs per over across the two games.
