India Women will square off with England to play a Test between December 14 and 17 at the DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai. This will be the first women’s Test on Indian soil since the hosts thrashed South Africa by an innings and 34 runs at Mysuru in 2014-15.

The Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA), the host board for the England-India clashes, has allowed free entries for all upcoming matches of the Indian women’s team, including the one-off Test at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai in addition to the fixtures against Australia Women later on.

The two sides have locked horns against each other on 14 occasions, of which 11 were drawn. England Women prevailed over their rivals by two runs at Jamshedpur in 1995-96, while India Women emerged victorious at Taunton in 2006 and at Wormsley in 2014.

Harmanpreet Kaur will become India’s 12 Test skipper, the first since Mithali Raj’s appointment in 2005. For England, Heather Knight will continue to lead her side, hoping to stretch their good form in the 2-1 T20I series win to the red-ball encounter.
