Watch: Rishabh Pant Reverse-Laps 87mph Jofra Archer For Six | India v England
by Wisden Staff 3 minute read

Watch: For the second time in two innings, Rishabh Pant played a stunning stroke off an England new ball bowler, this time reverse-lapping Jofra Archer for six in the first India-England T20I.

There is sure to be debate over which of the two was better. The first came in a Test match and against James Anderson, the seamer with more Test wickets than any other, bowling with the new ball, with which he is usually lethal. However, India were ahead in the game when Pant attempted the stroke, with the precocious wicketkeeper-batsman well set.

In the first T20I, India were up against it. Archer had started with a wicket maiden, and had just started to crank the heat up. They were 8-2 when Pant nearly doubled the score in one stroke, turning his bat round in his hands and ramping the leg-stump ball over the slips.

The shot is one Pant has made his own, playing it in the Indian Premier League and practising it in the nets. This surely won’t be the last time it makes an appearance in Indian colours, and it’s one cricket fans will never grow tired of. Even Archer, when he saw the replay on the big screen, could only applaud.
