Anderson, the only fast bowler in Test history to take 600 wickets, had bowled one of his trademark miserly spells when Pant, batting on 89 and inching close to his first home Test hundred, decided to do something it’s tough to remember any batsman doing to the England fast bowler previously in his career: reverse lapping the seamer over the slip cordon.
Even as fans raved over Pant’s exceptional execution of the shot, a video from a practice session in 2019 shared by BCCI resurfaced, showing that Pant’s reverse lap off a fast bowler wasn’t a mere fluke, but one that was honed in the nets.
