Watch: Yashasvi Jaiswal rapidly ascended through the gears after Tea on Day Three at Rajkot, smashing James Anderson and Tom Hartley for sixes in consecutive overs en route to his second century of the series.

Jaiswal put on a spectacular show has he neared another Test century, taking India to a huge second innings lead in the process. He went into the Tea interval on 19 off 54 balls, having lost Rohit Sharma shortly before the break. He continued at a similar pace after the break, moving to 30 off 65 balls. However, after India’s lead crossed 200, Jaiswal cut loose.

On strike from the third ball of Anderson’s sixth over of the innings, Jaiswal was dealt a short ball which reached him at waist height. He picked up the length straight away and pulled it into the leg side, sending the ball crashing into the advertising boards. He followed that up with consecutive fours, the first a loose swipe at a wide delivery down to deep third man and the second a once-bounce pull behind square.

Those boundaries took Jaiswal to 49 and he reached his half century in the following over with a six off Hartley. He was given a knee-high full toss to put away from the spinner, which he duly dispatched over long on. The next delivery of the over was also sent over the long on rope, Jaiswal dancing down the wicket to another full toss and hammering it even further.

Jaiswal went on to reach his century off 122 balls, also hitting Joe Root and Rehan Ahmed for sixes along the way. The hundred is his second of the series after he scored a double in the second Test in Vizag. Playing in just his seventh Test match, Jaiswal now has three centuries and two fifties to his name.
