Watch: Ben Stokes had no answers. The England captain dropped his bat in despair (and amazement) after being undone by a Jasprit Bumrah special on day two of the India-England Visakhapatnam Test.

Another sensational Bumrah spell headlined India’s charge on the second day – the seamer ripped through England’s middle order, sending back Ollie Pope, Jonny Bairstow, Ben Foakes and Stokes.

Before Stokes, it was the Pope dismissal that created waves: England’s hero in the first Test, Pope had no answer to Bumrah’s toe-crushing yorker that ended up splaying his stumps.

Stokes’ dismissal was just as dramatic: having put up some resistance and nearing his 32nd Test fifty, Stokes was blanked by a Bumrah special, the second ball of the 50th over. It seamed in and stayed a tad low, whizzing past his bat and clattering his off stump. Stokes stood aghast, dropping his bat and gesturing as if to say “What do I do with that?”

Bumrah ended up with a five-for, his tenth in Test cricket. Stokes’ wicket was Bumrah’s 150th in Test cricket.

Last month, Bumrah had sent back Stokes with another scorcher in the Hyderabad Test, pinning back his middle stump.
