IND A vs ENG Lions: What happened in the first two ‘Tests’?
The series is running parallel to the England Test team’s tour of India for five Tests.
In the first ‘Test’ of the three-match series, the England Lions, led by Josh Bohannon, amassed 553-8 and bowled out India A for 227, but did not enforce the follow on. Instead, they set India A a target of 490 in well over a day and had them at 229-5 before wicketkeeper KS Bharat (116 not out) and all-rounder Manav Suthar (89 not out) saved the match.
India A put on an improved show in the second ‘Test’ to bowl out the England Lions for 152 and 321. Bengal seamer Akash Deep claimed 4-46 in the first innings and left-arm spinner Saurabh Kumar 5-104 in the second.

In between, India A amassed 489, largely due to Devdutt Padikkal (105) and Sarfaraz Khan (161 in 160 balls), while captain Abhimanyu Easwaran (58), Washington Sundar (57), and Saurabh (77) all got half-centuries. The hosts won by an innings and 16 runs to go one-up in the series.
The scorecard for the match is here.
Sarfaraz, Saurabh join squad for second India-England Test
Injuries to Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul forced the selectors to call up Sarfaraz, Washington, and Saurabh to the Indian Test squad. Saransh Jain has been named as Sundar’s replacement in the India A side. England Lions have retained their squad.
With 266 runs at 66.50, Keaton Jennings has the most runs in the series so far, followed by Sarfaraz (220 at 73.33). Matthew Potts tops the wickets chart with 12 scalps at 16.67, twice the tally of Akash and Sourabh, the next names on the list.
