Watch: Ravindra Jadeja produced an excellent arm-ball to bowl Steve Smith through the gap between bat and pad during the first India-Australia Test at Nagpur.
Jadeja, making a comeback to the side after a lengthy injury lay-off, looked India’s most threatening bowler throughout the morning session. Just after lunch, he picked up Marnus Labuschagne and Matt Renshaw. The best, though, was saved for Smith. Jadeja pitched the ball on a length on off stump. Smith got a half-stride forward and looked to defend into the off side. The former Australia captain, however, was playing for the turn, only to see the ball continue on with the arm, sneak past the inside edge and crash into the stumps.
Smith could only look on in disbelief as Jadeja embarked on his celebratory run. The wicket handed India complete control of the game, with Jadeja causing the most amount of damage, picking up three wickets. Prior to getting dismissed, Smith had looked comfortable at the crease and it seemed as if he would dig Australia out of trouble. Unfortunately for the visitors, though, Smith did not have an answer to Jadeja’s moment of magic.
