Australia won the toss and chose to bowl first in the summit clash, with Australia skipper Pat Cummins giving the reasoning of dew for the decision. The ball has previously been affected by moisture in prior games at Ahmedabad, with spinner Adam Zampa saying after his team’s game against England on November 4 that “It [The ground] got quite wet early actually, probably earlier than we expected it to.”
Australia have not made any changes to their XI, playing the same team that played the semi-final against South Africa at Eden Gardens.
India too have gone in unchanged, opting to keep Mohammed Siraj in the XI over R Ashwin. With the pitch thought to be slow and the threat of two left-handers at the top of the order for Australia, India could have been tempted to play the off-spinner, but decided to stick with the team they have gone in with for their last six games.
Ever since Hardik Pandya was injured against Bangladesh, India have not made any changes to their side, after swapping Pandya and Shardul Thakur for Suryakumar Yadav and Mohammed Shami.
India are unbeaten in the tournament, having won all ten games thus far. They began their campaign by defeating Australia in Chennai on October 8 after reducing the rivals to 199 all out. Cummins’ team have won eight matches in a row after losing their first two games of the tournament, to India and South Africa.
