Watch: 36-year-old Mushfiqur Rahim takes one-handed diving catch of the tournament contender

by Wisden Staff 1 minute read

Watch: Mushfiqur Rahim latched onto a “wow” catch, dismissing Kusal Perera with a stunning one-handed catch on the first ball of the over in the 2023 World Cup game between Bangladesh-Sri Lanka game in Delhi.

On the last ball of the first over by Shoriful Islam, Perera looked to go for an expansive shot over covers against a delivery outside the off stump. The ball moved away from the batter, and the Sri Lanka only managed a thick edge behind to the left of the wicketkeeper Mushfiqur.

The Bangladesh gloveman immediately moved towards the ball and grabbed it to complete a one-handed catch with his left hand.

Perera has not had the best tournament, with five scores below 10 in six innings in the World Cup.
