India have a chance to inch closer to their dream of ending their 12-year World Cup title drought, but they face a massive roadblock in the form of 2015 and 2019 finalists New Zealand, known as a bogeyman for them in recent ICC tournaments. With nine wins on the trot, India became the first team to enter the semi-final and the only one to do it while staying undefeated in the group stage. No side has been able to match their performance, as they have been clinical with both bat and ball.

Meanwhile, New Zealand started with four successive wins, then stuttered in the middle with as many consecutive defeats before becoming the fourth entrant to the semi-finals by pipping top-four contenders Pakistan and Afghanistan with a massive victory against Sri Lanka in their final group-stage match.
