Injury scare for Pandya? Got hit on his finger while bowling his first over, which went for 13 runs. He went out of the field for one over as Ashwin bowled, but returned soon after treatment. He isn’t bowling right away though.

Australia have traditionally dominated India in World Cup matches. They have won eight out of 10 times against the hosts. However, India emerged victorious when they met last time in 2019, thanks to a Player of the Match knock of 117 off 109 by Shikhar Dhawan.

India are going through a purple patch after a successful Asia Cup 2023, followed by an ODI series win against Australia. Shubman Gill has reportedly tested positive for dengue and is unwell. However, a call on his selection will be taken based on his fitness at the last minute. Tweaker Ravichandran Ashwin will likely get the nod on a spin-friendly Chepauk pitch ahead of a third pacer.
