Kolkata police seek information on World Cup ticket sales

A cricket fan lodged an FIR ahead of the India-South Africa clash in Kolkata, alleging that the BCCI, CAB and the World Cup ticketing partner BookMyShow have hoarded tickets to sell them in the black market. Following the complaint, Kolkata Police have issued a notice to Roger Binny, the BCCI President, asking for information on the sale of tickets for the game.

Yuvraj Singh confirms cordial relationship with MS Dhoni

Reports of a rift between Yuvraj and Dhoni began in 2007 when the wicketkeeper was named the India captain for the T20 World Cup. Yuvraj, then the ODI vice-captain, later admitted to expecting the role. His father Yograj Singh later blamed Dhoni of “backstabbing” his son. In a recent interview, Yuvraj confirmed the two are not “best friends” but always put their egos aside for the country.

Naveen-ul-Haq takes dig at Cricket Australia ahead of World Cup clash

Afghanistan quick Naveen took a dig at the Australian team, recalling the incident in March when Cricket Australia had refused to play a bilateral series against the Afghans to protest against the Taliban’s restrictions on women’s employment and education. On Instagram, Naveen posted “Refusing to play the bilateral series, now it will be interesting to see cricket Australia stand in the World Cup #standards #humanrights or 2 points.”

Sri Lanka Cricket secretary resigns after poor World Cup

After Sri Lanka’s massive 302-run defeat to India on Thursday that virtually ruled them out of a semi-final spot, sports minister Roshan Ranasinghe called for a mass resignation of the SLC administration, blaming the selectors and office bearers for the debacle. Mohan de Silva, who was in his third term in the SLC, was the first to render his resignation in the aftermath.

Oman win Asia T20 World Cup Qualifiers in the Super Over

Nepal and Oman had already qualified for the 2024 T20 World Cup by reaching the final of the qualifiers. Both sides scored 184 in the final, as the match went into the Super Over. Oman set a target of 22, but Nepal only scored 10-1.

ICC monitor situation in Delhi after air pollution concerns

With AQI levels in Delhi reaching the “severe” mark, there are questions over the Sri Lanka-Bangladesh World Cup match scheduled to be held on Monday. Both teams cancelled their training in Delhi over the weekend, prompting the ICC to seek expert advice to ensure the well-being of the participants. The AQI in Delhi on Sunday at 7am was 460, nearly 200 percent more than acceptable levels.

Ellyse Perry takes career-best bowling figures

Sydney Sixers skipper Ellyse Perry made a spectacular return to bowling, claiming 5-22 in the WBBL clash against the Melbourne Renegades on Sunday. This was the first time in 275 T20s that Perry claimed a five-for. She also scored an unbeaten 44 with the bat as her team chased down 105 with seven wickets to spare.
