IND vs BAN, latest weather updates: Rain forecast in Colombo for India v BAN Asia Cup 2023 Super Fours match

by Wisden Staff 2 minute read

India’s Asia Cup 2023 Super Fours match against Bangladesh is scheduled for September 15 in Colombo. Here are the weather updates for the IND vs BAN ODI including the latest rain prediction.

India and Bangladesh have one match left in the Super Fours of the 2023 Asia Cup. The encounter is a dead rubber since the ‘Men in Blue’ have already sealed a spot in the final along with the winner of Match 11 between Sri Lanka and Pakistan. Bangladesh’s defeat in their previous game against Sri Lanka resulted in their uneventful exit.

An upbeat India would like to test their bench strength. An in-form Jasprit Bumrah could make way for Mohammed Shami to manage his workload, keeping his eye on the 2023 ODI World Cup. Seen practising in the nets after missing two games due to back spasm, Shreyas Iyer, along with Suryakumar Yadav and Prasidh Krishna are the other possible replacements.

Shakib Al Hasan’s men are seeking a consolation win after their lukewarm returns in the ongoing Asia Cup campaign. A misfiring batting order added with an injury concern has contributed to their Super Fours exit.  Centurion in his last match against Afghanistan and Bangladesh’s leading run-getter in this edition, Najmul Hossain Shanto, was ruled out of the tournament after he tore his hamstring, news that jeopardized their batting plans.

The weather forecast for the India-Bangladesh game is not the brightest, but it is relatively better than what it has been for the last few games in Colombo.

Asia Cup 2023, IND vs BAN: What is the rain forecast?

AccuWeather predicts September 15 to be “cloudy with a couple of showers and a thunderstorm” during the day and “cloudy with a thunderstorm in spots” during the night. The probability of rain is high during the day – 88 per cent – but it reduces to 41 per cent during the night.

BBC Weather’s rain predictor varies between 17 to 37 per cent during the match hours, with temperatures supposed to range between 27 and 28 degrees Celsius.

Weather.com has predicted cloudy skies during match hours without rain. However, thunderstorms are predicted in the morning. Humidity is likely to be 80%.
