Just before the Asia Cup begins on August 30, Afghanistan and Pakistan will be engaged in a three-match ODI series in Sri Lanka starting August 22.

Both teams have met each other in four ODIs so far with Pakistan emerging victorious in each of them. While the two sides played a T20I series earlier this year in the UAE, this will be their first encounter in the 50-over format since their clash in the 2019 World Cup.

Afghanistan vs Pakistan ODIs 2023: Team news and recent form

Afghanistan are coming on the back of an ODI series victory in Bangladesh where they beat the hosts 2-1. Before that, they lost 1-2 to Sri Lanka in June this year. Noor Ahmad, the teenage left-arm chinaman, has been picked in the squad for the series as the rest of the team bears a similar look to the one that defeated Bangladesh.

Pakistan have played eight ODIs this year so far, all against New Zealand. They lost the first three-match series 1-2, before winning the five-match series in April-May 4-1. For the series against Afghanistan, they have recalled seam-bowling all-rounder Faheem Ashraf and have also given a call-up to batter Tayyab Tahir who impressed in the Emerging Nations Asia Cup.

Each of the three matches will start at 3 pm local time, which translates to 3 pm India time, 2:30 pm Pakistan time, and 2 pm Afghanistan time.

The Afghanistan vs Pakistan ODIs can be live-streamed on the FanCode app and website in India. Eurosports will be the broadcast partner for the series in India, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Nepal, and Bangladesh.
