Nikin Jose claimed the catch off the bowling of Yuvrajsinh Dodiya to dismiss Soumya Sarkar. On first look the catch looked to be a screamer, Jose diving low to the ground from slip and just scraping his hand underneath the ball before it hit the ground.

Immediately upon landing, Jose gestured to the umpire that he had taken the catch cleanly, while the other fielders appealed. It was not immediately clear whether the ball had glanced the bat or deflected off Sarkar’s front pad. However, the dismissal went down as a catch in the scorebook.

After the umpire raised his finger, Sarkar gestured towards the umpire with his hand that he was uncertain whether Jose had taken the catch cleanly. A heated discussion then unfolded between Sarkar and Harshit Rana, with the other India players and umpires stepping in to separate the two players.

Before finally walking off the field, Sarkar went over to the other umpire to ask him whether the ball had carried but was told that it had. He finally returned to the dressing room out for five off three balls.

Bangladesh A went on to lose the match, bowled out for 160 in pursuit of India A’s 211.
