Biography
An all-rounder who has rose to prominence very late in his career, Nkruma Bonner is a cricketer from Jamaica who has played international cricket for the West Indies cricket team. A leg-spin bowler and right-hand batsman, Bonner made his first-class cricket debut for Jamaica against Combined Campuses and Colleges in February 2011.
Bonner was selected as part of the West Indies squad to tour England in 2011. However, he made just a single appearance in a T20I against England, marking his international debut in September 2011. His team suffered a humbling defeat in that match and Bonner was on the fringes yet again. He made his next international appearance in another T20I against Australia in March 2012. In both those matches, his performances were not good and due to the sheer talent that the West Indies team possessed especially in the shorter format of the game, he failed to get in the mix.
After gaining a lot of domestic experience, he came up the ranks again. In June 2020, Bonner was named in the West Indies' Test squad for their series against England. The Test series was originally scheduled to start in May 2020 but was moved back to July due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Bonner will be hoping that he will get the opportunity to make an impact this time around and make his Test debut.
