Biography

Working as a financial planner, Matthew Gale is the nephew of the former Victorian seamer and England bowling coach David Saker. Gale played an U19 Test for Australia against England in 2002 and played Second XI matches for Victoria from 2004-2006. He has also tried his hand at the Australian Football League as an amateur. In the 2012-13 Ryobi Cup, Gale enjoyed a brilliant streak with the ball taking 11 wickets in just three Ryobi Cup games and picked up six wickets in his only full Sheffield Shield game before a nasty knee injury wrecked his chances of any championship in any of the big domestic competitions. Playing for Brisbane Heat, he would hope to emulate the feats of his more famous uncle and do justice to the talent he is blessed with.
