Biography

Transcending from a natural attacker to a snail-paced run-getter the game of cricket ever witnessed, Ken Barrington was a colourful character both on and off the field. The once celebrated batsman was shockingly dropped from a Test for scoring 137 from 435 balls against New Zealand in 1965.

However, the cricketer who became a victim of heart attacks went on to score over 6,000 runs for England. His daring appearance and quick repartees was famous amongst the fans of the game. He once caught himself in a volley of metaphors with a Surrey fan after having scored a sequence of single-figures. This incident brought out the good-humoured and expressive Barrington in front of the world.

Barrington not only accomplished enormous heights as a cricketer, he went on to become one of the most flourishing assistant manager's for England. Recognized for his thick self, with highlighted features, Ken Barrington will be cherished as one of those cricketers who brought some panache to the game on and off the field.
