Biography
Daren Powell is a right-arm seamer from Jamaica who has the ability to skid the ball. He is young, quick and has the potential to pick wickets with the new ball. He began as a number three batsman and off-spinner but grew up to be a medium-pacer. The change did him more good than bad.
Daren was played in one-off Tests every now and then but did not do too well for himself. After a few disappointing seasons he managed to put up a good show in the 2006-07 season.
But his recent sound performances have earned him a regular spot in the Windies side. In a generation of a young West Indies pace attack, Powell has had to shoulder the responsibility of the lead seamer in the side.
