Biography

Queensland's loss turned out to be Western Australia's gain as a long fast bowling queue at the former state led to Ben Edmondson's entry into the latter. Debuting in the 2003-04 season, the speedster made a promising start to his domestic career and ended the season with as much as 28 wickets.

'Edo' as he is nicknamed, contributed significantly to his side's dramatic ING Cup victory against Queensland, which according to him, was the biggest moment in his cricketing career. Seven games and a summer later, Ben was his state's leading wicket-taker with 29 victims. Another fruitful season followed in 2005-06, and he earned a place in the mature-age Academy after bagging 24 Pura Cup wickets. Soon, Ben came to be known as one of the most dangerous fast bowlers in Australia's domestic history, with an added ability to swing the ball.

Unfortunately, injuries restricted his appearances and he announced his retirement from first-class cricket in 2011, after making a final appearance for South Australia in the 2010/11 season. Post retirement, Ben was signed by Perth for the 2011-12 Big Bash League.
