Irani Cup is a first-class tournament hosted by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). It also marks the beginning of the first-class season in the country. The winners of the Ranji Trophy lock horns against the Rest of India, featuring the top in-form players from India’s first-class circuit.

The five-day competition was first played during the 1959-60 season to commemorate the Silver Jubilee year of the Ranji Trophy. It was named after BCCI president Zal R. Irani. He chaired the governing body from 1928 to 1970.

In this year’s edition, Jaydev Unadkat will lead the Ranji Trophy champions Saurashtra, Meanwhile, his counterpart Hanuma Vihari is entrusted with the leadership duty of ROI.

KS Bharat, Mayank Agarwal, Sarfaraz Khan, Navdeep Saini and Sai Sudarshan are some renowned names present in the Vihari-led team.

Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot will organise the top-flight competition.
