Lucknow Super Giants posted 181-5 at the Chinnaswamy Stadium after Faf du Plessis won the toss and opted to field. Quinton de Kock blazed away to a 56-ball 81, while Marcus Stoinis chipped in with a 15-ball 24.

Nicholas Pooran walked out at the fall of Stoinis’ wicket. He lost de Kock and Ayush Badoni at the other end, and at 148-5 after 18 overs, Lucknow needed a major boost.

Reece Topley began with a wide yorker that Pooran let go. He attempted an encore, but ended up bowling too wide. When Topley adjusted his line by bowling closer to the bat, he ended up bowling a full-toss. Pooran sliced the ball for six over deep point – not once but twice.

Topley altered not only his line but also his length and pace. The shorter, slightly slower ball was closer to the body, and Pooran swung it away over deep mid-wicket for a 106-metre six.

Not content, Pooran hit two consecutive sixes in the final over as well, off Mohammed Siraj, to finish with a 21-ball 40.

At the time of writing, Royal Challengers Bengaluru were 48-3 after six overs with Rajat Patidar (6) and Cam Green (1) at the crease.
