Watch: Dinesh Karthik scored four boundaries through third man in the space of five deliveries during today’s IPL 2024 match between MI and RCB at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

RCB were put into bat after losing the toss in Mumbai. After a shaky start, Rajat Patidar and Faf du Plessis rescued the innings before Dinesh Karthik gave it the final impetus. In the middle of it all, Jasprit Bumrah weaved his magic, picking his second five-for in IPL and registering the best figures against RCB.

Karthik came out to bat at No.6 in the 13th over and was on six off nine at the end of 15 overs when he tore into Akash Madhwal. Madhwal was bowling with third man and point up. Karthik, who is known for playing cheeky scoops and ramps behind the wicketkeeper, lined him up to target that area.

The first ball he faced in the over was reverse-ramped over short third for four. The next ball he attempted a classic scoop over the leg side but failed to connect. The fourth ball of the over was a near perfect yorker which Karthik once again reverse-ramped over short third for the second boundary in the over.

The next ball was a slower one outside off, to which Karthik opened his face and guided it perfectly past the diving wicketkeeper and the short-third fielder. Eventually, MI pushed the fielder back but it didn’t help. The last ball of the over was a quick yorker which Karthik somehow outside edged past the wicketkeeper for the fourth boundary through third man in five balls.

RCB eventually ended up with 196-8 and Karthik finished unbeaten on 53 off 23.
