Mayank Yadav left the field after bowling just one over against Gujarat Titans today (April 7), with reports suggesting he has a side strain.

Mayank Yadav, who grabbed eyeballs during the ongoing 2024 Indian Premier League for clocking 156.7 kph in Lucknow’s last game against RCB, walked out of the field with a suspect strain after bowling just one over against Gujarat Titans at the Ekana Stadium on Sunday.

Chasing 164 for a win, Gujarat were 22-0 in three overs before Mayank was introduced into the attack. Mayank, who bowled 150 kph in his first over in the edition earlier this season against Punjab Kings, was conspicuously slower in his first six balls of the game: he bowled in the late 130 kph throughout the over.

He also erred with his accuracy, conceding three fours. Soon after the over, he was seen walking out of the field with the physio and did not return. Reports suggest Mayank has suffered a side strain, though there is no official confirmation from the LSG team.

Mayank had figures of 3-27 in his debut game against LSG and bettered them in the following match against RCB, finishing with 3-14.

Lucknow eventually bowled out Gujarat for 130 to win by 33 runs as Yash Thakur finished with 5-30, the first five-wicket haul by anyone in IPL 2024.

“He seemed okay, which was quite a relief for us” – confirmed Mayank’s teammate Krunal Pandya after the match.
