Watch: Sachin Tendulkar claimed a key wicket playing for One World against One Family in a charity game today (June 18), dismissing the opposition top-scorer lbw.

The game, staged to raise funds for healthcare and education of the needy across more than 30 nations, was a T20 match featuring the likes of Muttiah Muralidaran, Harbhajan Singh and Makhaya Ntini, with the two sides captained by Yuvraj Singh and Tendulkar.

Yuvraj’s One Family batted first, with former England international Darren Maddy opening the batting and making a half-century. With the score closing in on three figures and One Family only two down, Tendulkar introduced himself for a couple of overs. While he was expensive, conceding 23 runs, he managed to dismiss Maddy, who went to pull the India legend but missed and was struck in front.

One World were set 181 to win and reached the target with four wickets and one ball to spare. South Africa’s Alviro Petersen top-scored with 74, with Tendulkar notching 27 off 16 before falling to Muralidaran.

What is One World One Family?

Organised by the Shri Madhusudan Sai Global Humanitarian Mission, the One World One Family team believes that the cricket match will be “more than a competition” and “a celebration of global unity”. They “play not for victory or defeat but for the sheer joy of the game“ to ensure their “actions can resonate beyond the boundaries”. This will be a platform to encourage everyone to “embrace kindness, compassion, and unity”.

The match was played at the Sai Krishnan Cricket Stadium in Muddenahalli near Bengaluru.
