India will play Australia in a five-match ODI series in September before the World Cup gets underway the following month. Fixture details for the World Cup have already been announced, with the final set to take place in Ahmedabad.
Following the competition, Australia will remain in India to play five T20Is which will spill into early December. Afghanistan will then kick-off the new year with three T20Is from January 11-17.
Later in January, England will return to India for a five Test match series starting on January 25 in Hyderabad. Vizag, Rajkot, Ranchi and Dharamsala will host the following matches, with the series concluding in the second week of Marsh.
All in all, India will host 16 matches of men’s bilateral international cricket in the 2023/24 home season. Excluding the World Cup, 11 separate venues will host men’s international cricket under the BCCI venue rotation policy.
The Afghanistan T20I tour will be the side’s first bilateral white ball series in India, with the final set to take place in Indore, where Afghanistan played their first-ever Test match.
England last toured India for a Test match series in 2021. India won the series 3-1 after England took victory in the first Test in Chennai. England haven’t won a Test series in India since 2012.
