Harmanpreet Kaur will lead the Indian women’s cricket team at the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in South Africa – here is the complete team list, including India squad for 2023 World Cup.
Kaur will be at the helm of affairs for the third successive women’s T20 World Cup, after 2018 and 2020. In 2020, India reached the final, ultimately going down to Australia in front of a near-packed Melbourne Cricket Ground. Smriti Mandhana, who has since enhanced her reputation, will act as the vice-captain. She will most likely partner Shafali Verma at the top of the order, with Jemimah Rodrigues set to complete a strong top three. Devika Vaidya and Richa Ghosh, who impressed during the recent five-match series against Australia, are also part of the squad.
Among bowlers, Shikha Pandey makes a comeback, despite not featuring for India in the shortest format for more than a year. Pooja Vastrakar has also been included, although her inclusion is subject to her fitness. Anjali Sarvani and Renuka Singh Thakur are the other fast bowlers in the squad. Deepti Sharma, Radha Yadav and Rajeshwari Gayakwad, meanwhile, are the spinners in the India squad for 2023 World Cup. Meghna Singh, S Meghana and Sneh Rana are the reserves.
India are in Group 2, and will begin their campaign against Pakistan on February 12 at Cape Town. Their second fixture is against the West Indies at the same venue on February 15 before taking on England at Port Elizabeth on February 18. Ireland are the fifth team in India’s group.
