Scotland shocked West Indies in the second match of the 2025 Women's World Cup Qualifier in Lahore today (April 9) - here is the updated WWCQ 2025 points table after today's matches.
The 2025 Women's World Cup Qualifier kicked off in Lahore with hosts Pakistan taking on Ireland and Scotland facing West Indies.
Pakistan were put into bat by Ireland at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. Losing a wicket in the first over, Muneeba Ali (32 off 59) and Sidra Amin (51 off 112) led their fightback. Aliya Riaz scored a quickfire half-century (52 off 58) as well that took Pakistan to 217. Ireland were in the chase for a major portion of the innings. But regular wickets - from 96-1 they went to 153-4 - and a late collapse - from 153-4 to 179 all out - meant they couldn't pull off an upset. Diana Baig was the pick of the bowlers with 4-35.
At the Lahore City Cricket Association Ground, Scotland were put into bat by the West Indies. Sarah Bryce top-scored (55 off 56) from No.4 and was ably supported by Megan McColl (45 off 44), taking Scotland to 244 all out in 45 overs. Hayley Matthews took four wickets with the ball and then pulled off one of the bravest acts on the cricket field, fighting cramps to score an unbeaten hundred despite needing to be stretchered off in between, and almost winning her side the game single-handedly. But lack of support from the other end meant Scotland snatched a historic 11-run victory.
