Wasim Akram clean bowled Michael Atherton with a classic inswinging yorker during a charity match held in memory of Shane Warne.

The star-studded occasion also featured the likes of Clive Lloyd and Brian Lara, who were all featuring in the Well Being Of Women match being held in memory of Shane Warne.

Akram, off a signficantly shorter run-up than when he was in his pomp (and rightly so), produced an absolute beauty to Atherton that bowled him middle-and-leg stump. Whilst the run-up may well have been shorter, the class remained the same.

Atherton and Akram were regular foes in the 1990s when facing off for England and Pakistan respectively, but the two knew each other well having both played for Lancashire for many years.

In a previous interview, Atherton described Akram as, “one of the great left-armers that the game has ever seen.” And given the most recent delivery he faced from the Pakistani legend, you doubt that opinion is likely to have changed.
