Sachin Tendulkar completes a catch during the International Masters League opening encounter between India Masters and Sri Lanka Masters in Navi Mumbai

Watch: Sachin Tendulkar hung on to a skier despite a collision with wicketkeeper Ambati Rayudu during the opening match of the International Masters League between India Masters and Sri Lanka Masters yesterday (February 22) in Navi Mumbai.

The incident happened in the 13th over of Sri Lanka’s chase. Ashan Priyanjan took the aerial route against Vinay Kumar but got a top edge. The ball ballooned up high in the air as Tendulkar, captaining India, positioned himself for the catch. At the same time, wicketkeeper Rayudu swooped in, seemingly unaware of Tendulkar's presence.

The duo eventually collided. Despite that, Tendulkar managed to hold on to the catch. As both fell on their back, Tendulkar smiled and pulled up his teammate, luckily neither suffering a major injury. Priyanjan departed for 17 runs off 11 balls.

Sri Lanka eventually fell four runs short of India’s 222-4 in 20 overs, with skipper Kumar Sangakkara’s 30-ball 51 going in vain.

Earlier, during India’s innings, Tendulkar gave fans a sense of nostalgia by hitting two consecutive boundaries in the first over off Isuru Udana. However, he perished for 10 off eight balls in the next over from Suranga Lakmal. India’s Stuart Binny was the Player of the Match for his 31-ball 68.
