Watch: The third day of the Cape Town Test swung in South Africa’s favour early after Keegan Petersen took a brilliant catch to get rid of India’s Cheteshwar Pujara.

Marco Jansen bowled the first over of the day, and the second delivery took off towards Pujara’s body. The India No.3 tried to fend it away, and in the process managed to only glove it. The ball was on its way down the leg side and given that it was quite some distance away from the leg-slip fielder, it seemed for a moment that it would go through the gap between the keeper and fielder.

Keegan, stationed at leg-slip, was to have none of it. He threw himself towards the ball, and snatched it spectacularly, diving full stretch. The South Africa fielders broke into celebrations, having picked up a big wicket off only the second ball of the day.

Pommie Mbangwa, on commentary, was mesmerised by the catch, “Oh, wow! Unbelievable take. That is brilliant. Keegan Petersen, what did you have for breakfast?!”

Sunil Gavaskar added, “…that is a magnificent catch, magnificent catch. And what a start for South Africa, second ball of the day…”
