The former New Zealand player unleashed havoc in the T10 League to help New Jersey Tritons chase down 85 runs in just 28 balls. The shortest format of the game had been reduced further due to rain, with only a five-over-a-side game possible.
Opening the batting after being brought in as the impact sub, Ryder played out the only dot ball of his inning from the first delivery he faced before slamming a six from his next ball off Sohail Khan.
He hit another boundary in the first over to take 14 off it, before rapidly accelerating in the next. The first ball went for five wides before another six came from the next delivery. Ryder hit two more sixes in that over off Dhammika Prasad as well as a four to reach 34 off ten balls.
Yusuf Pathan, his opening partner, had only been able to face two balls in the first two overs, taking a single off both of them. With Jerome Taylor coming on for the next over, Ryder continued to attack. Back on strike after the first delivery, he hit a four from the second through backward point.
His innings came to an end immediately afterwards however, as a Taylor slower ball caught his edge from a huge swing and went through to the keeper.
The back of the 84-run chase Tritons had been tasked with was broken, however, and Pathan and Chris Barnwell finished the job with a cluster of sixes. Barnwell hit four in two overs while Pathan finished the match with consecutive maximums to complete the chase with two balls remaining in the fifth over.
