With the visitors well set at 95-0 in their pursuit of 204 but in need of upping the rate, Ali came down the wicket to Danny Briggs and was outfoxed by a wide yorker.
The ball slid under his bat and through to wicketkeeper Alex Davies, who first juggled the ball before moving to take the bails and missing.
It seemed Haider had gotten away unscathed, until he inexplicably wandered out of his crease and was stumped by Davies. Haider has played 35 limited-overs games for Pakistan, looked bemused at the square leg umpire raised his finger, but had to walk off for 48.
Derbyshire enjoyed a comfortable win despite the bizarre dismissal, as Leus du Plooy’s 25-ball-66 helped them complete their chase with six wickets in hand.
Haider’s 48 was his third meaningful contribution is as many games, as he begins to find some form in England after struggling in the early rounds of the Championship.
He passed 50 just once in nine Division Two innings and was dismissed twice by Matty Potts in the space of three hours when Derbyshire met Durham. However, he has now passed 30 in each of his last three knocks, including a match-winning 74 against Yorkshire on Sunday.
The Falcons currently sit seventh but are still in the hunt for a quarter final in a North Group where all but one team are separated by two points.
