Kent’s 19-year-old opening batsman Jordan Cox has hit a double century in the ongoing Bob Willis Trophy against Sussex.
Cox, who played for England’s Under-19s at the World Cup earlier this year, moved to his maiden first-class hundred on Sunday with a six, and he began Monday unbeaten on 167.
He reached his double-ton – in just his fifth first-class match – off 311 balls, squeezing a single into the off side off the bowling of George Garton.
Much of Cox’s knock has come in the company of new Kent signing Jack Leaning, who moved past his previous first-class best of 123 in the opening session of day three.
