Speaking on Time To Talk with Sean Sennett, former Australia captain Ian Chappell looked back at the time he briefly faced Brad Hogg in the nets, and came away distinctively unimpressed.
Chappell had, in fact, been having a session with Shane Warne, and despite being over 50 at the time, decided to pad up to the young leg-spinner because he “wanted to face him, just to see what he was like”.
However, Hogg showed up during the middle of that session and bowled to Chappell as well, and the former Australia captain was not flattered, to say the least.

“He [Warne] had been bowling for a couple of minutes, and suddenly Brad Hogg appears from somewhere, I don’t know where he came from,” Chappell said on the podcast. “Suddenly he appears, and he starts bowling to me as well.
Chappell picked out two examples of great cricketers whose careers, in his opinion, were adversely affected by Bradman’s perceived ability to hold a grudge.https://t.co/1GLEBlhDmZ

“Brad Hogg was a piece of piss, even [when I was] at 52. I mean, why the hell people can’t pick his wrong’un is beyond me. You’re obviously not looking at the right place! I cover drove Hoggy a couple of times …”
Hogg, now 49, played seven Tests for Australia, and was more of a limited-overs specialist, playing 123 ODIs and 15 T20Is, with his last international appearance coming in a T20 World Cup clash against Pakistan in 2014.
