The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has denied former head coach Jason Gillespie’s claim of unpaid dues during his tenure, and alleged breach of contract on the Australian's part.
What were Gillespie's claims?
Gillespie became Pakistan’s Test coach in April 2014 but stepped down in December due to differences with PCB management. However, in an interview on the Wisden Patreon Podcast, Gillespie alleged that his exit was prompted by a lack of communication over high-performance coach Tim Nielsen’s departure. He also said his stint as Pakistan head coach had left him reluctant to return to a role as full-time international head coach.
Months after stepping down, Gillespie also claimed he had not received full remuneration from his tenure from the PCB. Speaking to the PakPassion podcast, he said: "Yes, without going into details. I'm still waiting on some remuneration for work that’s been done. That’s been a little disappointing, but hopefully it can be sorted sooner rather than later."
Former Bangladesh head coach Chandika Hathurasinghe was suspended for allegedly assaulting a player last October.

PCB gives fiery response
On Monday, the PCB retorted to the allegations, alleging that Gillespie "left his position without serving the four-month notice period".
"The Pakistan Cricket Board refutes claims made by a former head coach regarding non-payment of dues. A PCB spokesperson stated that the former coach abruptly left his position without serving the four-month notice period, which was a clear breach of contractual terms. The coaching contract explicitly mentioned a notice period applicable to both parties, and the coach was fully aware of it," read a statement from the PCB.
Gillespie was appointed interim white-ball coach after Gary Kirsten’s exit, but Aqib Javed later took over the role. Following Gillespie’s resignation as Test coach before Pakistan’s South Africa tour earlier this year, Aqib replaced him on an interim basis. Gillespie has since criticised his successor, calling him a 'clown' and accusing him of undermining his tenure.
The PCB has invited applications for the head coach position, setting May 5 as the deadline.
