Pakistan international batter Saud Shakeel suffered a unique mode of dismissal on Tuesday (March 4) while batting in the President's Trophy Grade-I tournament in Rawalpindi, resulting in a dramatic sequence.

In the 2024-25 season of the President's Trophy Grade-I, State Bank of Pakistan and Pakistan Television faced off in the final starting yesterday (March 4).

The match saw the participation of internationals Saud Shakeel (SBP) and Imam-ul-Haq (PTV), five days after Pakistan's Champions Trophy came to an end with a washout against Bangladesh. In the team's last completed match, Shakeel had scored 62 and Imam 10, against India.

After SBP openers Imran Butt and Rameez Aziz put on 87, the latter was dismissed for 40 to bring Umar Amin to the crease. In the 27th over of the innings, PTV's Muhammad Shahzad struck with the third ball as Amin edged the ball onto his stumps. Shahzad made it two in two as Fawad Alam could only nick his first ball to Mohammad Taha at slip.

Shakeel was due to come in next, but did not emerge from the dressing room as expected. After four minutes, the batter was deemed "timed out", making him just the ninth player in men's professional cricket to be dismissed in this fashion. The reason why Shakeel did not make it to the crease is still unclear.

Once Shakeel was dismissed, Muhammad Irfan Khan walked out to the middle, but his middle stump was knocked back by Shahzad – meaning the bowler had claimed a hat-trick, and SBP had lost four wickets in the space of three balls to slip from 128-1 to 128-5. They were eventually bowled out for 205.
