The Pakistan Cricket Board has decided to postpone the final two 50-over matches between Pakistan Shaheens and Sri Lanka A over protests in Islamabad.

A statement by the PCB on November 26 stated that the board will consult with Sri Lanka Cricket board for the revised dates.

"The Pakistan Cricket Board, in consultation with Sri Lanka Cricket, has postponed the last two 50-over matches of the Pakistan Shaheens-Sri Lanka ‘A’ series due to a political activity in the federal capital," the statement said.

"The last two matches were scheduled for Wednesday and Friday at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. Both boards will collaborate to finalise new dates to complete the series."

The Shaheens won the four-day series, also winning the first 50-over game on November 27.

There have been widespread protests in the city of Islamabad by supporters of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf political party. The PTI party is founded and led by former Pakistan captain Imran Khan, the country's prime minister from 2018 to 2022. He is currently in jail, with protestors demanding his release. The protests have gathered intensity amid a two-day security lockdown.

Pakistan is set to host the Champions Trophy in February 2025, but, with India stating they won't be travelling to the country, there is uncertainty over where the tournament will actually take place. Pakistan have made it clear they won't be resorting to a hybrid model.

Latest reports suggest that a decision on the future of the competition will be taken in an ICC meeting on November 29.
