Martin Guptill retirement

New Zealand opener Martin Guptill has announced his retirement from international cricket.

New Zealand Cricket confirmed Guptill's retirement from international cricket today (January 8).

The right-handed opener, now 38, played more than 350 international matches for New Zealand across formats, amassing more than 13,000 runs. He was one of the most prolific white-ball openers of his generation, finishing as New Zealand's third-highest run-scorer in ODIs (7,346) and the highest in T20Is (3,531).

Guptill made his international debut against West Indies in an ODI in 2009, and played his last international game in October 2022, a T20I against Bangladesh.
