Mohammad Hafeez, the veteran Pakistan all-rounder, will join Middlesex for the rest of their T20 Blast group matches.
Hafeez, who has 162 wickets and 5,413 runs from 258 T20 matches, is set to make his debut against Essex on Wednesday, August 14.
Middlesex, who are currently second on the South Group table, will look to him to fill the void created by their missing overseas players, AB de Villiers and Mujeeb Ur Rahman. While de Villiers is set to return by their penultimate group game at the end of the month, the Essex game will be Mujeeb’s last group game, as he has been called back by the Afghanistan Cricket Board.

The all-rounder, who was part of Pakistan’s World Cup campaign, lost his PCB central contract earlier this month, but remains available for selectipn. He comes to England fresh from playing in the Global T20 Canada tournament, where he made one half-century.
“We are delighted to have a player of Mohammad’s experience and ability to join us for the last few matches of the T20 group campaign,” said Angus Fraser, Middlesex’s director of cricket. “He’s been playing regular cricket all summer in the ICC World Cup for Pakistan and in the Global T20 tournament in Canada for Edmonton Royals and we’re really looking forward to welcoming him at Chelmsford on Wednesday.”
