Several Sri Lankan and New Zealand cricketers have made significant progress in the latest ICC Women’s T20I player rankings following their performances in the recent bilateral series.
Although the final match of the series in Dunedin ended without a result due to rain, the earlier games provided enough opportunities for players from both teams to rise in the rankings.
Chamari Athapaththu makes gains in the batting charts
Sri Lanka’s seasoned captain Chamari Athapaththu, who scored 87 runs in the first two games, including an unbeaten 64 in 48 deliveries in the first, and was named Player of the Series, climbed to sixth spot in the batting charts. Her compatriot Nilakshika de Silva also saw upward movement, jumping three spots to share 52nd place after contributing 32 runs in the first two matches.
New Zealand’s Brooke Halliday emerged as one of the key movers, surging 17 places to 67th in the batting rankings, bolstered by her unbeaten 46-run knock in the second encounter at Christchurch.
