Several Sri Lankan and New Zealand cricketers have made significant progress in the latest ICC Women’s T20I player rankings following their performances in the recent bilateral series.

Although the final match of the series in Dunedin ended without a result due to rain, the earlier games provided enough opportunities for players from both teams to rise in the rankings.

Chamari Athapaththu makes gains in the batting charts

Sri Lanka’s seasoned captain Chamari Athapaththu, who scored 87 runs in the first two games, including an unbeaten 64 in 48 deliveries in the first, and was named Player of the Series, climbed to sixth spot in the batting charts. Her compatriot Nilakshika de Silva also saw upward movement, jumping three spots to share 52nd place after contributing 32 runs in the first two matches.

New Zealand’s Brooke Halliday emerged as one of the key movers, surging 17 places to 67th in the batting rankings, bolstered by her unbeaten 46-run knock in the second encounter at Christchurch.

Latest changes in the ICC T20I women’s bowling rankings

On the bowling front, Sri Lanka witnessed several of their bowlers gaining ground. Inoshi Priyadharshani advanced two places to 19th, Sugandika Kumari climbed seven spots to 22nd, and Kavisha Dilhari rose three positions to 34th. Right-arm seamer Achini Kulasuriya also improved her standing, moving up four places to joint-56th after an economical performance of 1-11 in Christchurch.

From the New Zealand camp, pacer Jess Kerr improved by three spots to secure the 42nd position. Veteran Suzie Bates, who made 99 runs in three innings, also advanced, leaping 13 places to joint-35th in the latest all-rounder rankings.

West Indies’ Hayley Matthews keeps her place as the leading all-rounder in T20I cricket, while Sophie Ecclestone continues topping the bowling list. The batting is led by Beth Mooney, who has 785 rating points.
