Latest ICC women's ODI rankings: West Indies captain overtakes Australia duo to enter batting top-five

Matthews came back in to the top five of the ICC Women’s ODI Batting Rankings following her dominant run-scoring at the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 Qualifier for the West Indies. She began the tournament with a heroic unbeaten 114 in a losing effort against Scotland and capped it off with an explosive 29-ball 70 against Thailand, guiding her team to a six-wicket victory with 235 balls to spare. However, the win wasn’t enough for the West Indies to qualify for the main event in India, as they fell short by a mere 0.013 net run rate to Bangladesh, who secured the second qualifying spot behind Pakistan.

Matthews climbed two spots to fifth place, just below her career-best ranking of fourth, which she held at the start of the tournament. She overtook the Australia pair of Ellyse Perry and Alyssa Healy, who had previously occupied the fifth and sixth positions.

Ireland’s Gaby Lewis rose five places to 17th after scoring 75 against Thailand and 61 against Scotland. Her teammate Amy Hunter jumped seven spots to 27th, while Orla Prendergast climbed seven places to 31st, Laura Delany moved up four spots to 40th, and Leah Paul advanced four places to 42nd.

Pakistan’s Sidra Amin rose five places to 18th after scoring 80 against Thailand and 33 against Bangladesh, while her teammate and opener Muneeba Ali achieved a career-best ranking of 30th. Bangladesh’s Sharmin Akhter also reached her career-high position of 21st.

In the bowling rankings, Bangladesh's left-arm spinner Nahida Akter rose two places to 10th after taking 4-40 against Scotland, while Pakistan's Sadia Iqbal jumped five spots to 17th. West Indies' Afy Fletcher equalled her career-best ranking of 21st following her 4-20 against Thailand and 2-43 against Sri Lanka. Bangladesh's Rabeya Khan moved up one place to 22nd, with other notable climbers including West Indies' Karishma Ramharack (up five to 25th), Pakistan captain Fatima Sana (up five to 35th), and Ireland's Orla Prendergast (up seven to 43rd).

Matthews, who finished as the leading wicket-taker at the Qualifiers with 13 scalps, retained her position in the top 10 of the ODI bowler rankings at ninth spot.

Prendergast and Fatima also advanced in the all-rounders' rankings, moving to 11th and joint-15th positions respectively. Matthews remains in the top 10 of the all-rounders' rankings, holding third place with a rating of 438.
