There are now four India players in the top ten of the ICC men’s ODI rankings, though only two of them have gained ground over the past week.
Shubman Gill made 87 at Nagpur and 60 at Cuttack to help India take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match ODI series against England. The two fifties propelled his ODI average to 58.92 and his ICC rating to a career high of 781. Gill jumped to second place on the list and he is now only five points behind top-ranked Babar Azam (786).
Despite his outrageous hundred at Cuttack, Rohit Sharma slipped to third place on 773 points. However, he is within touching distance of his opening partner Gill. Virat Kohli, dropped two spots to sixth place after missing out at Nagpur and making only seven at Cuttack. With 59 and 54, meanwhile, Shreyas Iyer rose one spot to tenth, making it four India players in the top ten.
