Glamorgan have parted company with head coach Robert Croft who leaves after three decades at the Welsh club.
The former England off-spinner has paid the price for Glamorgan’s rock-bottom finish in the County Championship, while the Welsh county also failed to reach the T20 Blast quarter-finals.
Glamorgan are also expected to appoint a new director of cricket after CEO Hugh Morris stepped down – though he will remain at the club.
Croft, 48, made his debut for the county in 1989 and enjoyed a 23-year domestic career which earned him international recognition. The tweaker took 49 wickets in 22 Test matches at an average of 37.24, while he also took 45 scalps in 50 ODI appearances.

Croft retired from playing in 2012 and became the club’s assistant coach before succeeding Toby Radford to become head coach in 2016. The bowling-all-rounder is the only Glamorgan player to achieve the double of 10,000 runs and 1,000 wickets.
“After finishing my playing career it was one of my dreams to coach at this great club and I am pleased to have been able to fulfil that dream and play a part in developing the next generation of Welsh cricketers,” Croft said in a statement. “Glamorgan will always hold a big piece of my heart.”
[breakout id=”0″][/breakout]Morris said: “On behalf of the club I would like to thank Robert for the incredible contribution he has made to Glamorgan, not just as head coach but also as a player, assistant coach and ambassador over the last 30 years.
“He is one of our greatest players and the most successful player we have ever had at the club at international level and has done more than anyone to promote not just cricket in Wales, but Welsh cricket to the world.
“It was an incredibly difficult decision for the board to make, but given our performances in the County Championship we feel it is the right time for a change. Robert is always welcome back at the club and we hope he will continue to act as an ambassador for Glamorgan and Welsh cricket.”
