Three players were inducted into the ICC's Hall of Fame on Wednesday (October 16), including a former England Test captain.
The ICC launched the Hall of Fame in 2009, in association with the Federation of International Cricketers Association (FICA). The FICA's had their own hall of fame between 1999 and 2003, which comprised the initial list of 55 players in the ICC's version.
The first five added to the list in 2009 were Wasim Akram, Clarrie Grimmett, Herbert Sutcliffe, Victor Trumper and Steve Waugh. Since then, there have now been another 55 additions to the Hall of Fame.
Via a press release on Wednesday (October 16), the three latest players to be added were Alastair Cook (No.113), Neetu David (No.114) and AB de Villiers (No.115). The three inducted before them were Virender Sehwag, Aravinda de Silva and Diana Edulji, in 2023.
Cook played over 150 Tests and 250 international matches in 12 years for England, opening the batting and scoring over 12,000 runs in the longest format of the game. He led the country in 59 Tests as well, before retiring in 2018. In 2019, Cook was knighted for his services to cricket. He continued to play first-class cricket until 2023.

David is the current record holder for the best innings figures in a women's Test match, with 8-53 for India against England in November 1995. A left-arm spinner, she played 10 Tests and 97 ODIs between 1995 and 2008, also becoming the country's first-ever bowler to take 100 wickets in women's ODIs. She is currently the chair of the Indian women's national team selection panel.
Over 14 years in international cricket for South Africa, AB de Villiers managed to make his mark in each of the three formats. The batter (and occasional wicketkeeper) record an average in excess of 50 across 114 Test matches and still holds the record for the fastest-ever century in ODI cricket (31 balls). He excelled not only for South Africa in T20 cricket, but also on the franchise circuit, perhaps most notably for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL.
