In pursuit of 211, Team A captain Shafali shepherded the chase by scoring more than half of her team's run. She struck a blazing 115 to take the match out of the opposition’s hand from the get-go. The most striking aspect of her innings was the manner in which she batted: a strike rate of 164.29 was a testament to her explosiveness.

Shafali’s innings was studded with 14 fours and six over-boundaries. Barring Shuchi Upadhyay, who gave only six off 14 balls against her, Shafali was merciless towards most bowlers, especially against Saika Ishaque, taking 30 off her 11 balls. Jagravi Pawar too faced the heat, giving away 27 off 11.

In November last year, India dropped Shafali from the ODI squad for the Australia tour after her prolonged lean patch in the format. She didn't find a spot in the home series against West Indies and hasn't been playing the ongoing Ireland series as well. Since then, the out of favour opening batter has been on fire in domestic cricket. 139, 8, 50, 40, 25, 68, 197, 91, 95 and 87 were her previous knocks before today.

By the time Shafali’s whirlwind 70-ball stay came to an end in the 24th over, her team was already in sight of the target, needing another 49 for a win. Wicketkeeper-batter Shipra Giri soon perished for two with Team A putting another four runs on the board. T Sarkar and M R Magre stitched an unbeaten 62-ball 46-run stand to take Team A over the line in 36.1 overs. Sarkar made 33* off 37, while Magre scored 20* off 38.
