After a strange stumping ended a Dhaka Premier League match on Wednesday (April 9), the Bangladesh Cricket Board issued a release promising an investigation into any potential match-fixing.
During a league fixture between Shinepukur and Gulshan, Shinepukur were seven runs away from victory with seven overs left and one wicket in hand, when batter Minhajul Abedin charged down the wicket before letting a wide ball go, and being stumped out.

Slow-motion replays showed something strange: Abedin initially attempted to make his ground before appearing to pull his bat away and ground it outside the crease. As clips of the incident were circulated on social media, whispers of potential match-fixing among fans began to grow.
BCB: Investigation into the alleged irregularities has been initiated
The stumping has now caught the eye of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), who released the following statement on Thursday (April 10).
"The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has taken note of the concerns surrounding the Bashundhara Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League 2024-25 match between Gulshan Cricket Club and Shinepukur Cricket Club, held at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Mirpur, on 9 April 2025.
"The BCB wishes to reiterate its firm commitment to upholding the integrity of the game and maintaining the highest ethical standards in cricket. The Board has a zero-tolerance policy toward any form of corruption or misconduct that may compromise the spirit of the sport. The BCB Anti-Corruption Unit and the League's Technical Committee have promptly initiated an investigation into the alleged irregularities associated with the match.
"The BCB remains committed to ensuring fairness and discipline in all cricketing activities under its jurisdiction and will take the necessary actions based on the findings of the investigation."
This is not the first time this year that Bangladesh cricket has suffered from negative publicity, as the Bangladesh Premier League saw player strikes amid allegations of unpaid wages. In fact, that has now spilled over to the Dhaka Premier League as well, with players of Partex SC boycotting a training session earlier today.
