By the end of the opening day, South Australia made it to 158-6, a lead of 63 runs. On day two, they stretched the lead to 176, finishing all out for 271 after Jake Lehmann, son of former Australian international Darren, scored 102.

The most successful bowler of the innings was 19-year-old Callum Vidler, who took 4-64 in just his third first-class match – striking the first two blows by dismissing opener Henry Hunt and Test batter Nathan McSweeney.

Vidler then knocked over Australia Test wicketkeeper Alex Carey for 24 before Liam Scott became his fourth victim. The teenager has already been clocked at 150kph, and is starting to turn heads with his impressive start to first-class cricket.

Vidler starred for the victorious Australian team at the last U19 World Cup in 2024, finishing as his side's highest wicket-taker with 14 scalps in six matches, including a restrictive spell of 2-35 in the final against India.

In the ongoing match, Queensland fared far better in their second go with the bat. They may have lost star opener Usman Khawaja early, but skipper Marnus Labuschagne put on 59 with Jack Clayton, on his way to 61 before he fell 13.5 overs before the close of play.

Clayton and Ben McDermott then saw their side through to the end of the day's play at 177-3, a lead of one run with three days still to be played.
