Biography

East Africa as a cricket team consisted of players from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Zambia. They were an Associate Member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) from1966 to1989 and got later replaced by East and Central Africa. East Africa qualified for the first-ever ICC Cricket World Cup in 1975 and were drawn in the group which comprised of New Zealand, India and the hosts, England. They played their first match in the ICC World Cup against New Zealand at Edgbaston. The 1975 mega event was the first and only appearance of East Africa in the ICC World Cup, although they participated in the 1979, 1982 and 1986 ICC Trophies (Qualifiers).
